What is a Fabric Coating?
Simply put, a coating is a protective polymer film bonded to fabric. It upgrades raw woven yarn with functional performance like waterproofing, windproofing, or UV resistance.
1. Core Budget
PA Coating (Acrylic): Inexpensive, soft, good drape. Provides basic wind and anti down leakage properties.
PU Coating (Polyurethane): Upgraded PA. Better elasticity, wear resistance, and superior waterproofing.
2. Opacity & Shading
White Pigment (PA / PU White): Conceals underlying colors and makes surface hues pop. PU outlasts PA.
Silver Metallic (PA / PU Silver): Silvery resin layer for UV and heat blocking (curtains, tents). PU handles higher water pressure.
3. Heavy Duty & Outdoor
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Thick, rugged, waterproof raincoat texture. Stiff and non breathable.
Teflon 'Three Proof': Fabric grade non stick treatment. Repels water, oil, and stains without losing softness.
4. Aesthetics
Pearlescent (PA / PU Pearl): Iridescent pearl luster. PU creates a smooth "leather membrane" finish.
Glossy Oil: Slick, shiny, wipe clean surface for decorative use.
Leather Like Membrane: Calendered coating that transforms fabric into faux leather.
Silicone High Elastic: Adds a bouncy hand feel and crisp "papery" rustle to lightweight cotton.
5. Safety & Special Purpose
UV Protective: Blocks ultraviolet radiation (most effective on dark fabrics).
Flame Retardant: Chemical or pad treatment to resist combustion.
Foam: Foamed layer delivering thick, soft cushioning and maximum light blocking for blackout drapery.
