Washed Cotton A word game that marketing agencies have been playing for a long time
When people see washed cotton, don't most of you assume it means pure cotton bed sheets, pillowcases, or down comforters that are machine washable?
I guarantee that's how any normal person's mind works.
That's exactly why I'm telling you to be careful. 'Washed cotton' is a process. A manufacturing process. It does not mean the material is cotton.
If you see ultra cheap products labeled as washed cotton, there is a very high probability they are just polyester (plastic) treated with a washed fabric finish.
Real washed cotton is made by applying a specialized treatment to the yarn before it's woven into fabric, giving the pure cotton cloth a wrinkled, pre shrunk look and feel.
So remember this: pure cotton is already more expensive than polyester. If it actually goes through a specialized washing/finishing process, the cost is even higher than standard cotton.
Going forward, whenever you're shopping for cotton bedding, make sure to steer clear of anything combining washed cotton with ultra ow price tags.
