1. Unboxing & Daily Care

  • The Sun Method: Don't use compressed pillows right away. Sun them for 2–3 hours with a few slaps. Down loves to absorb moisture, and the sun bakes it out so it traps air and fluffs up fast. Plus, UV is a natural sanitizer.
  • Dryer Alternative: If it’s cloudy, toss them in the dryer on low for 15 mins, or air them in a well-ventilated room for 2–3 days.
  • The Oil Hack: Body oils and heavy sweat will turn the shell yellow and corrode the cotton over time. Use a zippered pillow protector (or 3-4 regular pillowcases) to block it.

2. How to Wash Safely

You rarely need to wash them—once every 6 months is plenty. But if they actually get dirty:

  • The Washer: Avoid agitator washers with a center pole. Use a gentle detergent, put the pillow in a zippered case, add a few wool dryer balls or tennis balls, and set the spin cycle to a low 400 RPM so feathers don't pierce the wet casing.
  • Drying: Sun drying on a rack is best (take 1–2 days and fluff hourly). Or, use a dryer on low-medium heat (30–50°C), taking it out every 15 mins to manually break up clumps. Always check the corners to prevent mold.

Normally, just regular sunning is more than enough. Animal fiber is pure protein, and protein loves the sun. Hope this helps you save some cash! Drop a comment if you've got questions.
